Between 1922 – 1947, Charles Chamberlain Hurst worked in Cambridge University Botanic Garden researching the genetics of the garden rose. In 1955, G S Thomas, a trainee of Charles Hurst published The Old Shrub Roses. Thomas includes Hurst’s genetic work in this publication.
